Unschooling

Teri Brown

Different from a curriculum based education, unschooling is about the child's own gifts, talents and interests. As parents, we all want our children to love to learn and what better way to do that then by utilizing their own curiosity. It isn't about education, it is about living the educational life. It is also about teaching your child to learn on their own, then allowing them the freedom to do so. It is about rethinking education and what it is for. Facilitating a child's learning, knowing when to nudge and when to back off, and when to find a mentor, will help whether you are a long time homeschooler, a novice, or merely curious.
