Natural Parenting

Sara McGrath

Natural parenting is also known as attachment parenting, and advocates parenting and living in harmony with our natural environment and according to our inctincts. It involves responding to our children's needs as they arise, respecting our children as individuals with their own interests, and avoiding control and coercion in our interactions with others. Research in the fields of cross-cultural child-rearing practices (ethnopediatrics), evolutionary biology, support this approach and practice; attachment parenting has evolved from tribal, village-style communities and hunter-gatherer-style nutrition, and on this continuum approaches child-rearing through positive discipline and unschooling.
