Mothering

Amy Condra-Peters

This column is designed to offer mothers reassurance, support and validation. Motherhood can be both rewarding and challenging, and society's often unrealistic expectations add to the guilt and worry that many women face as they care for their children. Mothers today are told not only how to mother, but how to eel as mothers-- namely, fulfilled, altruistic, nurturing and selfless. All of these emotions are certainly inherent in the mothering role, but so are feelings of frustration, doubt and resentment.
