After they lost the Presidency and the congress, the PRI leaders seem to be clueless aboout their future. They look for leadership, and they are looking in the wrong direction.

Vicente Fox is making very serioous efforts to achieve peace in Chiapas, by movilizing the army and accepting treaties, yet it will be impossible to keep with the ever cahnging demands of the zapatista guerrilla.

When a President rose to power all the country knew him, they knew what he done and what he had the right to do, but the stories of what his family does are usually revealed after he leaves office, and sometimes that is too late.

Vicente Fox is now the President of the Mexican United States, he has not engaged yet in the many battles that are coming, but what happened on his inauguration day indicates what to expect.

Today, December 1st is inauguration day, for the last 71 years a PRI memeber has been inaugurated. Not now, today Vicente Fox will become the 64th President of the Mexican United States.

When first sworn as President Ernesto Zedillo was regarded as Carlos Salina's puppet, he proved otherwise, but he did it with the power of the Presidency. Now Zedillo will leave office and confront Salinas as a private citizen.

In the state party era the people always knew who their next President would be, we never face ancertainty like the American people is now because we knew that the PRI candidate was the sure winner.

When the President chose his successor, he does it for many reasons, personal, political, ideological and historic. But deep in his heart he does it because he wants to keep pulling the strings.
