When Congress established the Law-Related Education Act of 1978 "to equip non-lawyers with knowledge and skills pertaining to the law, the legal process, and the legal system, and the fundamental principles and values on which these are based," it apparently saw a need and sought to fill it. Even as LRE has made its way into curriculum engaged citizens are preparing to meet its challenges in responsible, creative ways.
