While blessed with generally marvelous growing conditions, Florida is by no means a easy when it comes to gardening. Frequent frosts in the northern part of the state can damage tender perennials; heat and drought can wilt the hardiest of plants (and gardeners). The soil is mostly sand and the pests are year-round. Still, the benefits we Florida gardeners reap are well worth the battle.
