Folklore

Larry Low

Folklore is the total of oral and written literary collections including fairy tales, myths, legends, fables and family folklore, religious beliefs, music, dance, dress, recipes, customs, and the observances and traditions which relate to the daily lives of a people. It also includes that body of historical happenings which lead to a different and often Tall Tale type of interpretation. There are virtually as many definitions of Folklore as there are cultures.
