Attachment Parenting

Donna Lauritzen

Attachment Parenting is a parenting style sometimes referred to as empathic parenting, or gentle parenting, which, in essence, puts the needs of the child first. Attachment parents strive to form a bond, or attachment, with their child from before birth. We believe that babies cries signal something; this is their only form, of language to communicate with their parents. We also believe that physical closeness promotes emotional attachment. Our primary focus is our children, understanding their needs, and responding to those needs in a gentle, compassionate, empathic way.
