Weather Forecasting

Weather forecasting is more than the five minutes during the morning news that tells you whether to take an umbrella today.

Weather forecasting can predict the number of hurricanes expected in the coming season, can issue warnings to save lives in events like tornadoes and can let you know when to cover your tender plants and seedlings.

Weather forecasting is used by ships at sea, schools and the stock market. Modern methods include the use of satellites, computer models and rapid communication technology, as well as personal weather stations and observers.

Weather Forecasting at Suite 101 features articles on forecasting techniques, traditions and history, as well as specific articles on why weather happens.
