Tudor History

The Tudor period lasted for less than 120 year but it is one of the most dramatic of English history. Beginning wwith the Battle of Bosworth, which ended the Wars of the Roses, its conclusion saw the accession of the Scottish Stuart king, James VI and I -a nd with him the beginning of the Union between England and Scotland.

The Tudor period overflowed with huge characters, including Henry VII, Elizabeth I and 'Bloody' Mary. It saw momentous events, such as the establishment of the Anglican Church and the Dissolution of the Monasteries. Rulers were seldom secure: conspirators plotted against the crown; executions were common; and the Spanish sent their Armada to invade. Yet it was a time of chivalry, flattery and great literature.
