At any crime scene exists trace evidence. Trace evidence happens when there is contact between the perpetrator and any item in his or her surroundings. Trace evidence can result from the perpetrator bringing with him or her something into the crime scene from another place or the outsdoors or can be taken from the scene iwhen the perpetrator leaves. The importance of collecting and analyzing trace evidence is of obvious importance and why it is imperative investigators do not contaminate the scene during the investigation.
