Sri Lanka may be small but it is surprisingly diverse and rich in natural and cultural wonders. The latter include ancient cities, sacred caves, giant Buddhas and the old capital of Kandy up in rolling tea country.
The island has pristine beaches, green valleys and misty peaks, waterfalls, lakes and national parks and reserves, home to wild elephants and myriad resident and migrating birds. Add spice gardens, fabulous gems, local crafts, tasty food, what more could you want?
