The Holy Experiment
<p>Despite some misconceptions about William Penn, he was undoubtedly a man of great
vision. He envisioned, in the New World, a land where men could govern themselves and be
free from the restrictions of 17<sup>th</sup> century English society yet ruled by men who
were godly and fair. While Penn did not realize his ideal and, in fact, spent only a few
years in his colony during his lifetime, his grand vision became, of course, the modern
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.</p>
