Vampyres: Legend, Cases and Theories
This is the first article in a series about the vampyric breed. Human? Inhuman? Vampyres have been recorded since ancient times. The Greeks called them lamiae and the Romans, striges, lamiae or mormos. They believed they were the undead who preyed upon the living. At one time, it was believed that lycanthropy and vampirism were closely intertwined. In Eastern Europe, the belief was that a werewolf turned into a vampyre when it died.
