A Farmhouse in Tuscany Pt 2: A Day in Siena
We leave our farmhouse retreat and venture down the Chianti Trail to Siena. a wonderful medieval walled city with her feet in the olive groves and vinyards of Chianti. It is a delightful place with many churches, Piazzas and famous clock towers. It is a safe and enjoyable city where one may wander and dream of things past. There are even tales of the Palio, a famous ancient horse race which lasts only 75 seconds and is still held today. Of course there are many photos. A Farmhouse in Tuscany
We arrive for a month long stay in a newly renovated traditional stone farmhouse. in a small Tuscan village of Pieve a Presciano.We soon have a regular routine, as we learn to shop in an Italian supermarket, get to know some of the locals in the village capiccino bar/grocery store. Join me for a visit to the charming hill town of Civitella in Valle di Chianti. Not only is this town beautiful, with spectacular views of the valley, among others it has an ancient castle and historic church. There is also a unique cistern that has served the town for centuries. Also,the restaurant "Osteria L’Antico Borgo" situated in this place, is one of the best we tried in Tuscany".
