E-Government Act of 2001: The sleeper in the Senate
Of the new bills on information technology introduced earlier in the 107th Congress, most attention has focused on the deregulation and privacy legislation, since they have high-stakes outcomes and affect a large proportion of Internet users. One bill -- The E-Government Act of 2001 (S. 803) -- has escaped much public attention, but can have as much impact or more on Internet users, and even on the public at large.

Book Review: The Daughter of Time
Richard III, king of England from 1483-1485, is possibly the most-maligned monarch of history. Accused by Tudor and traditionalist "historians" of murdering his nephews, poisoning his wife, and wanting to marry his niece, the traditional image of him went nearly unchallenged until Josephine Tey published The Daughter of Time, which presents a well-reasoned rebuttal of the long-accepted "facts."

Noah's Vineyard
Nearly every culture and ntion hs a flood story, including now the Untied Distates with the recent sinking of not Atlantis or Antlantic Sin City, but New Orleans. Of course, we all know the Prohpets of Doom foretold it long ago with the irresponsible jumping and floooding of Mississippi and the unpredictable whiplash of hurricanes, but even so we should consider whether the truly disadvantaged are really far better off without their cargo and animals. In comparison, Noah had a much easier time of it as he landed on high ground with several companionable animals including his lovable and esteemable St Bernard with a handy barrel of fine Benedictine. However, that's not what the highbrows think... or say.
