Chillingham Castle is Not All Chill
I held my hand in front of my face in the darkness and marveled that I could not see one detail, not so much as any movement or shadow. My trusty flashlight stood at the ready on the table by the bed in case I had to get up. There I lay in pitch blackness that would normally not be anything out of the ordinary, but I happened to be in a bed in the Lookout apartment at the very top of the Northwest tower of Chillingham Castle.

I Found Myself in a Cave
Sand crept into my underwear as I crawled on all fours through the narrow, tube-like passageway underground. The water level reached my mid-forearm and mid-thigh. Standing up was an impossibility, while the stream running through it left no space along the sides for a dry path. Somehow the person with the light had gotten way behind me, and I was first in the line of people crawling into the blackness of the bowels of the earth. Placing my hand on a snake or crawdad concerned me, but what was most disconcerting was the fact I was starting to like it.

A Camel, The Outback, and a Sore Bum
I have mysterious desire to tour the Outback of Australia on a camel. That intrigues me. I suppose I am imagining the adventure of being in a pristine wilderness astride an animal who is completely at home there, and I desire to feel the temperature of the desert, to smell the wind, to hear the silence. But until I can actually get my hands on a camel, I am writing this article as the next best thing. That way, no sore bum.

Where could you go for a meal when you are hankering for a taste of something a little different? Something unusual with an off the beaten path kind of atmosphere, of course. How about doing lunch at the Little A'Le'Inn located near the mysterious Area 51 in Rachel, Nevada? I contacted Pat Travis, one of the owners of the Little A'Le'Inn, to find out what is on the lunch menu. They have lots of sandwiches, but I think we simply must have their world famous Alien Burger.
