Canada's first Prime Minister, Sir John A. MacDonald conceived the idea of the North-West Mounted Police in 1873. This organization has restructured over the years and has become Canada's most prestigious Police Force. In 1904, King Edward VII, conferred the prefix "Royal" on this prestigious organization.
