Northern Ireland's new government
If there is ever a Nobel Prize awarded for political miracle-working, George Mitchell has a strong case for being its first recipient. Last week the former US Senator, in his role as chairman of the "review" phase of the Good Friday Agreement in Northern Ireland, concluded another agreement between Sinn Fein and the Ulster Unionists that has apparently saved the peace process, yet again, from imminent collapse. Northern Ireland now has its first government since direct rule from London was imposed more than 25 years ago. For the moment, anyway.

Jon Reiss' Cleopatra's Second Husband
Are you sick of quirky independent comedies? Jon Reiss presents a movie which redefines the term "quirk", placing it firmly into the arena of the repellant and odd. A husband and wife leave their home in the hands of a dubious housesitting couple. Upon their return, the house is trashed...and that's only the beginning of the cycle of dread which will consume them. Reiss plays his cards close to the vest before unveiling his macabre grand finale.
