Luther's Tragic Mistake: Commentary on Parts 1-5
This is the first commentary on Luther's tract. Each Saturday while this series runs I will review Luther's words which were posted for that week. May we study this tract and recognize evil and hatred and, with the help of God and his power of forgiveness, learn to curb our hatred and that God fills us with His love which is limitless and sees all people as sinners loved by their Savior.

Kvinnelig Omskjaering: Female Circumcision in Norway (Part I of II)
With the rise of immigration to Norway from African countries in recent years, Norway has found itself confronted with the debate over female circumcision (kvinnelig omskjæring). Female circumcision, often referred to as female genital mutilation, has been prohibited by Norwegian law since 1995 and is treated as a violation of basic human rights to health, privacy, and non-discrimination. Critics of this blanket policy against female circumcision, however, argue that the risks associated with this practice have been exaggerated and misunderstood at the expense of traditional practices and cultural notions of beauty and selfhood.

Kvinnelig Omskjaering: Female Circumcision in Norway (Part II of II)
Female circumcision is an exceedingly charged topic that in the last 10-15 years has been repositioned from the realm of the personal to the political and economic domain of international relations. Nations in which female circumcision has been traditionally practiced are experiencing extreme pressure to ban the practice and penalize its practitioners. Immigrants are particularly susceptible to the social and economic pressures being applied to them from those in both the new country and their native land. Like Safia, they are torn between the values of their past and the expectations of the present in Norway.

Why We Left Lutheranism--Infant Baptism
Is infant baptism valid? Does God command us to know Christian doctrine before being baptized into his family? Hmm, using that logic, no one should be able to adopt a child until the child knows who wants him and he can make his or her own decision. This is another look at a person's reasons for leaving the Lutheran church.

III-5 Metzora THE KOHEN and THE METZORA
The parasha continues with the themes of Tazria, examining the Metzora exiled outside the community. The Kohen is to go to the Metzora for an examination after the seventh day. If he is healed he is to make a sacrifice and return on the eighth day—the same day as brit milah or circumcision, symbolizing spiritual rebirth and re-entry into the covenant of God. The Eighth Day then is a day of redemption, of renewed commitment to God. The ritual for purification of the Metzora mirrors the ritual of the consecration of the priests with the acknowledgement of rededication of life to God's laws. Man made in the image of God, reaffirms his desire to live in God's image.
