This series of essays explores the debate over the role of these scholars, focusing mainly on Sir William Jones, the noted philogist and linguist who discovered that Sanskrit, Ancient Greek and Latin were part of the same language family, the "Indo-European" language family. I seek to examine whether there can be a bridging of this debate; whether there can be such a thing as a "Good" Orientalist.
