The Shining Company Around the year 600 A.D., King Mynyddog of the Gododdin summoned three hundred warriors, the sons of minor kings, and six hundred shieldbearers to his capital of Dyn Eiden. For one year, Mynyddogg shaped his warriors into a fighting company the likes of which had not been seen in Britain since King Arthur's time. Mynyddog sent his warriors out to push back the invading Saxon tide. Of the warriors who left to fight the Saxons, only a few returned. One of these was Aneirin, a bard who recorded the warrriors' story in The Gododdin, the first surviving North British poem. This poem forms the basis for Rosemary Sutcliff's The Shining Company.

So, this year my christmas preasent to you is to give you a brief stripped down version of "Ulysses" in less than 1,400 words.
