Gobble up, these Sites!
A good way to begin a Thanksgiving lesson is to give a little introduction on the history of Thanksgiving. There's a very nice Thanksgiving midi song to greet you when you arrive at the first site and there is lots of great background on the historical account of the "First Thanksgiving". While you are at the site, visit the page with the Thanksgiving songs too. This article also points you to some craft-making activities. One in particular are various puppet patterns. Many times a timid singer will find it much easier to sing to a puppet than they will to a music teacher. This puppet project could fit nicely in an ear training lesson.

Irish Music : On the Net!
During the month of March, I generally try to cover subjects in my class on Railroad Songs, Irish Folk songs and then dance a gig or two. However, since I left all my resource materials at school and I wanted to get my article done before the deadline, a great idea popped into my head, (desperation does that to me) and VOILA! This week's article is Irish Music on the Internet!

Let Freedom Sing!: Get Your Rights, Jack
In February, 1964, freedom workers were picketing Leb's restaurant in Atlanta. Thousands of passers-by, diners-out, and spectators crowded the four corners of the intersection. Demonstrators lined the two sides of the street. Suddenly an old man dressed in the red-piped, white satin robes of a Klan Cyclops limped through the narrow aisle of the sidewalk between restaurant and curb, leading a line of white-sheeted followers and a half dozen shirt-sleeved boys and men.
