Emotionally intelligent parents can use self-awareness to build better relationships with their children.
Parenting is a joy and a challenge. Each day I learn something new about myself. I also grow in understanding and appreciation of my own parents since I joined the club. We all choose our own path as parents. There isn't just one right road map but unfortunately, there are many wrong ones. Sometimes we take wrong turns, but with a little luck and a lot of planning we will raise our children to be happy, confident, responsible adults. I hope to be a source of ideas, strategies and support as you navigate some of the most common parenting challenges. You are not alone. Few parents have never second guessed a decision or discipline strategy. And what parent hasn't wondered about the best way to tame a tantrum or struggled with issues around homework, chores or curfew? For most of us, parenting is probably the hardest, and the most important, job we will ever do. We take it seriously; as we should. Just remember not to sweat the small stuff and to keep the big picture in mind. Always feel free to email me with questions, suggestions and comments. I look forward to hearing from you!
