My educational background includes a heavy emphasis on the sciences, and mathematics. My Bachelor of Science degree is from Tulane University. I am an expert at reading pulmonary lung function graphs. WIth a hunch from research on COPD(Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and reading pulmonary lung function graphs on asthmatics, people with cystic fibrosis, and smokers, I found the Site of Airway Reactivity in Cystic Fibrosis and published an abstract on the research in the American Review of Respiratory Diseases (1979).

Following that work, I did special work with the U.S. Navy after attending the Naval School of Health Sciences in San Diego, California as well as the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute in Pensacola, Florida. I became an Aerospace Medical Technician and among some of my responsibilities I was in charge of the medical welfare of the entire aviation community under the Flight Surgeon at the Naval Support Facility on a small island in the Indian Ocean called Diego Garcia. I did eye refractions on avaition personnel as well coordinated all flight physicals which are maintained at NAMI (Naval Aeropace Medical Institute). In my career, I had zero administrative errors. Flight physicals on all pilots were also completed and filed with the FAA in Oklahoma City , Oklahoma. My commanding officer on Diego Garcia is a very great friend, Captain Giles Norrington, retired . Captain Norrington was the first Navy Lt. shot down over South Vietnam in 1968 along with his navigator, Mr. Rick Tangeman. They were captured on the third day of the war. Captain Norrington was held in captivity for 6.5 years.

I helped sponsor an event in 2004 where Captain Norrington spoke to a group of veterans and their familes as well as the community from Lakeland, Florida. He to spoke to the community and residents of Lakeland, Florida on Veteran's Affairs as well as the Vietnam War veterans as well as WWII veteran at Lake Morton Plaza in downtown Lakeland. Captain Norrington spoke about his ordeal throughout the Vietnam War. He helped the widows and widowers at Lake Morton Plaza in Lakeland, FLorida with obtaining government services for themselves and their families due to their familes' involvement in the Vietnam War. It was covered by the local press the Lakeland Ledger.

I have worked as a consultant in computers, mathematics, security, as well as pulmonary and aerospace medicine. I also have an active real estate license as well as serve as a chief estimator for a construction company on different projects.Throughout the journey, I have made some excellent friends throughout the world, travelled extensively throughout the world. I am most familiar with Central and South America as well as Cuba and communist countries. I have travelled extensively throughout the Far East including Kenya, Jakarta, Singapore, Australia, and the South Pacific including the islands comprising Hawaii. My journeys to different countries have exposed me to different political as well as cultural views of the world .

After my work with the U.S. Navy, I became an educator where I found Calculus to be one of my favorite subjects going back to my college days at Tulane as well as my high school calculus course and teacher. Teachers certainly made a great impression on me and helped me to learn what I know today. Without those teachers, there would be a significant difference in the quality of my life. I've tried to make a difference in other peoples' lives based on the education and experiences in my own life.

In 1989 I received an award, a Mellon Foundation Grant Award in Calculus. Currently, course syllabi for teaching Calculus I and II are authorized by the Collegeboard in Princeton, New Jersey for Advanced Placement Calculus AB and BC for high school students. I have been nominated to Who's Who of America's Teachers multiple times (10). In 2004, I was among 20 people selected from a nationwide pool of applicants to participate in the very exclusive and professional TeachSpace Program at NASA and Embry -Riddle in Daytona, Florida.

Having been a resident of New Orleans, La., I helped family and friends ten days after Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. I took extensive photos of the extreme damage done to the surrounding area. I hope to share the photos and the stories that go with them in the near future here on Suite 101. My expertise and training focus on research and determining cause, effect, and confidence levels of information.

My interests include writing on current topics as well as photography, travelling, writing and solving calculus problems, and doing research. I also enjoy fishing for fresh water black bass, trout, and redfish. I enjoy bike-riding, cajun food, sunsets, classic movies, and reading extensively. I have a special interest on maintaining freedom in the U.S. in a world surrounded by terrorism, communism, and threats to U.S. special interests. My goal as a person is to try to learn as much as possible about topics that will strengthen U.S. interests for our future generations and sharing those lessons with people who are willing to learn and listen as well.
