Wendy Williams writes about
Sports - Wendy enjoys outdoor participatory sports -- she's not much of a spectator. She has been cycling, swimming, hiking, and skiing since she was five. In her adult life, she's taken up mountain biking, climbing, rollerblading, snowboarding, XC and backcountry skiing, snorkeling, SCUBA, and even golf. We don't just need to stay active as we age, we need to continue to try new sports.
Business and Finance - Wendy has an MBA from the University of Chicago and has worked at many startup companies since the mid-80s. She serves on the board of directors for a bank holding company.
Technology - Wendy has used PCs and other electronic devices since the release of IBM PCs with MS-DOS 1.1. She has worked in marketing, sales, and project management for software and web companies, offering products and services for communications, graphics, security, shopping, and web analytics. She loves her digital camera but is still a bit challenged by her GPS.
Travel - Wendy's travels in the past decade have taken her to Japan, Tibet, Nepal, Turkey, and France, as well as many spots in N. America. Several of these journeys have been mountain biking, and one included canyoning. Talking with the people in each locale and visiting homes, historical sites, museums, traditional villages, and houses of worship are as important as natural scenery.
Wendy has lived in Japan several times. Work and activities there included studying pottery and Japanese language, selling US software, interpreting and translating, and of course, the ever popular fallback -- teaching English. While she's not a naturally gifted linguist, Wendy's fascinated with foreign languages, and particularly how they affect speakers' psychology and beliefs. Besides English, she speaks OK Japanese, some French, and pathetic Spanish.
Like most people who inhabit a body, Wendy cares about health and medicine. She is particularly interested in the treatment of sports injuries, allergies, and pharmacology.
An open-minded agnostic, Wendy is interested in religion and spiritual beliefs. She enjoys observing the world and fellow humans. She is an avid reader.
