uisceboo -- editor_farscape@suite101.com Hi! I'm Jackie D. Gannuscio, and I'm a native New Yorker. I work as an "around town" events editor for a local newspaper, as well as a graphic artist in print and on the net. I hold a BA in Creative Writing (that's fiction) and hope to study computer/digital arts in the near future. I came upon the television series, Farscape, totally by accident. I had set my VCR to record one show, and ended up recording Farscape instead. I decided to watch the episode anyway, fell in love with what I saw, and became a regular viewer. Now I write on the topic, combining two of my passions. I've been a devoted consumer of science fiction-fantasy genre shows like The X-Files, Babylon 5, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Xena, and all the Trek incarnations. My earliest memories of televison are of Star Trek and Lost in Space. It all started when I was three; my mother let me and my older brother stay up to see Star Trek, even though it as on way past my bedtime! I enjoy the scifi/fantasy genre, especially on the television screen, as it is such a wonderful vehicle for escape. I find it theraputic to sit back and suspend my disbelief in the unproven, at leart for an hour. I am delighted to finally see genre programming of good quality on both broadcast and cable television; it's been a long time coming. My other interests science and anthropology, Antarctica (I want to go there someday), web design and beads. In my spare time I like to sit and watch the rain, eat Indian food with my friends, people-watch in New York City, and sing along with my Barenaked Ladies CD's at the top of my lungs. Favorite book: Fires of Nuala by K.E. Kimbriel. Favorite Quote: "Work Now, Freak Later." (Farscape) What I Really Do With My Spare Time: scribble story ideas in one of my ratty wire-bound notebooks! |
