Peru Travel Info – Backpacking Peru & Peru Holidays in the Land of the Inca Civilization
Tony Dunnell is a freelance writer currently to be found in the jungle town of Tarapoto, Peru. His belief that there is no education greater than experience has seen him travel extensively after completing his formal education.
Education through Experience
Tony Dunnell's first solo six month voyage in Brazil took him along the length of the Brazilian coast then down the mighty Amazon River. He then took the road less travelled into the heart of the Brazilian interior. His experiences in Brazil left him wanting more. After a second year-long trip from the Southern tip of Argentina to the Northern coast of Colombia he returned home to England, saved some money, and headed straight back.
He continues to explore Peru and South America from his base in Tarapoto. As the Latin American History feature writer for Suite101, Tony is in the ideal location for his subject. He is surrounded by the rich history of Latin America, living in the lands of the former Inca Empire.
Now writing from the jungle in Tarapoto, Peru, Tony has the time to write about all the things that interest him. Travel, history, sport, music, films, literature, politics.....the list goes on.
His time in Spanish-speaking South America has also given him a good command of the Spanish language. He continues to improve each day.
Formal Education and Employment
Tony has a degree in English Literature from the University of Sussex. He also studied film as a supplementary course.
Before going to university he completed his A-Level courses with flying colours in English, History, Geography and Sociology.
After university, Tony soon began working for the British specialist book retailer Waterstone's. Having helped to sell books for a good few years, Tony has now dedicated himself to writing.
Writing
Tony is currently writing about a wide range of subjects for Suite101. While his focus as a feature writer is on Latin American history, he still likes to cover all the varied subjects that interest him.
To date, Tony has been awarded three Editor's Choice Awards at Suite101 for the following articles:
