Joanne Huffa

Contributing Writer

Joanne Huffa cannot remember a time when she didn't know the words to "Sugar, Sugar" by The Archies or "Bad Moon Rising" by Creedence Clearwater Revival. A volunteer job at her university's campus radio station made her think that maybe she should do more with her knowledge and enthusiasm than make mix tapes for her friends. Since then, she has gone on to write for various publications, including Eye Weekly, FFWD, and Chart, as well as spending a few years in the music industry.

She has interviewed many people over the years. Some stand-outs include: Chrissie Hynde, Joe Strummer, Ric Menck of The Velvet Crush, Kathleen Hannah (Bikini Kill, Le Tigre), Robyn Hitchcock, Billy Bragg, Paul Smith (Maximo Park), Andrew Reiger (Elf Power), Taylor Hanson, Jack White (The White Stripes), and Raymond McGinley (Teenage Fanclub).

Although music is a driving force, she has a degree in English and a love of books and literature, particularly Young Adult fiction and rock biographies. She really loves it when books have great music references, and would, therefore, love to interview King Dork author, Frank Portman.
