Tammy Bergen
Contributing Writer
Tammy Bergen is a Florida native, born in Fort Pierce and raised in West Palm Beach. She has the unique viewpoint of having been raised at Pine Jog Environmental Sciences Center, which is also a Bird Sanctuary and now houses a green Elementary School. This experience has given Tammy an intimate knowledge of how to get along with South Florida's myriad denizens, from the alligator to poison ivy.
During her life, Tammy has the experiences of dealing with depression, single parenting, Christianity and Judaism, and now, being a grandmother. She has a conservative outlook, but fiercely retains her independent status as she says, "I make up my own mind, thank you very much. No one tells me who I have to vote for!"
Tammy has never stopped studying, and has an active interest in the community. She currently serves as an active member of her Synagogue and has served on a Palm Beach Community College panel with other members of the community including the Director of Operations of the FBI for the Southeastern Region, a representative of the ACLU, and an Instructor in Religion at Palm Beach Community College; as an active member and Secretary of the 5th and 6th Annual Sukkot Festival Committees; as the Director of Volunteers for the March Fun Fair.
Tammy enjoys varied activities, including more than 30 years of experience working with computers, singing, sewing, raising her children, swimming, canoeing, camping, hiking, and of course, writing!
