Suite101

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 1998, but have been dealing with the gradual onset of it since my late teens, early 20's. This, as well as the death of my father, ended my pursuit of a BS in Mental Health and Human Services in my junior year of college. I did, however, earn an AA in Social Services from UMA at the age of 47. It had taken me more than a few years to figure out what I wanted to do with my life.

My life has taken many twists and turns since then, and hasn't taken the direction I had planned. That's okay... Life is full of surprises and you never know what is going to be around the next corner.

In November of 1998, I was surfing the web looking for information on fibromyalgia when I stumbled across the Coping with Fibromyalgia Topic. I was thrilled to find a group of people who not only understood what I was going through, but lived it as well. They welcomed me with smiles :) and ((hugs)). And the rest, as they say, is history.

A lot has changed since then. As the former Feature Writer of Fibromyalgia Friends, (the Fibro Friends are my lifeline), the former Managing Editor of Diseases and Medicine, and the former Community Manager of Health - I'd

found a rewarding outlet for my desire to help others living with a chronic illness as well. What I got from this experience was so much more than I could ever give in return, and for that I must say THANK YOU to my fellow FMers, FWs, MEs, and CMs.

On October 31st the Fibro Friends Support Group will cease to exist as we know it.

Please Note: Although no longer associated with Suite101, all former fibromyalgia articles will be listed under the Health Section - Allergies and Sensitivities. All previous material will be archived/retired.

I want to thank all of our (Fibro Friends') readers who visited, posted, and supported our efforts over these past three years.

Please don't forget what's most important.

Supportive family and friends: Surround yourself with those persons who provide you with limitless support. And who give you comfort and offer a source of strength for the times when you aren't feeling quite so strong. These are the people who will pick you up when you fall, dust you off, and even carry you if need be. These are the people to cherish most in your life.

Please join us at our new home - http://www.myfibrofriends.com/

Hugs,

Tamara
