Michael Mercer has witnessed the musical landscape change significantly in the last decade. Hailing from the East, working for such prolific labels as Atlantic Records, Lava Records, and Warner Music Group, he’s managed to stay optimistic about what he calls “the world’s only Universal language.” Having mentored under Arif Mardin (the legendary Grammy award-winning producer) Michael had the opportunity to work with artists such as Jewel, Sugar Ray, the Corrs, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, Bette Midler, and others while witnessing music making in its truest art form. From planned string sessions, to off the cuff console recordings, Michael has been blessed in his unique experiences. His other passion, music journalism came to the forefront through his Sonic Satori column at Hifi+ magazine. The pages earned the writer a dedicated readership from 1996 through 2002. He has contributed as a writer to The Absolute Sound, the worlds most prestigous high end audio magazine. He was the Equipment Manager for Harry Pearson, the man who coined the phrase "High End Audio." Mr. Pearson defined the language that audiophiles use today to describe sonics in detail. His other contributions include The Perfect Vision, Listener, and Under One Sky. He also wrote for the Critics Choice section of The Bohemian in Northern California. As a DJ and producer, he has played clubs around the world (London, Miami, Ibiza, and New York). He is currently the Lead music reviewer and on the Editorial Staff for earbuzz.com. Michael has vowed to carry the torch with integrity, and help better the world through music.
