Sandi Gray Loychik - Profile

I grew up in the Adirondacks and spent my summers on Sacandaga Lake. My great- uncle Ira Gray was alway there to tell a story or two. In his later years he started writing book. My father helped bank roll his first publication, "Follow My Moccasin's Tracks". They have long since been out of print.

As a family project, we have recently republished a limited edition of the book. Original publication was 1975.

Ira Gray also known as "Adirondack Ike" wrote many tales reflecting a great respect for the land and value of the game he hunted. He wrote autobiographical vignettes about life in the Adirondacks during the first half of last century. He was a "game protector", hunter, and woodsman. In his late years, he received local recognition and many his things are featured in several local museums. His home in Saratoga County, NY is marked with an historical marker.

The republished book is available and distributed by my cousin Carol Brown of Saratoga Springs. E-mail Address cacbrown@nycap.rr.com.

The book is of first hand reference for those who want to learn about the Adirondacks and are interested in preserving its heritage. The stories are in an historical setting but the hunting and hiking tales are timeless. I would be happy to share additional information with those interested.
