Simone Wu

Contributor

Based in the sunny island of Singapore, this bright young writer ,who's been writing for four years, started her writing career after a communications subject, she took in her fashion marketing and management studies, enthralled her senses.

She decided to explore this interest and went to work at several women's magazines, starting with her internships at international fashion and beauty titles based in Singapore, Harper's Bazaar and ELLE. After that, she worked for STYLE: magazine, a local fashion and beauty magazine for 14 months as a full-time contract writer, where she was tasked to style and write beauty editorial and advertorial features. At the same time, she contributed articles on local celebrities and their takes on health for Lifewise magazine (a National Health Group Singapore health title).

Her innate nose for news and excellent communication and interpersonal skills honed interviewing an array of personalities from fashion designers such Loewe's Creative Director Jose Enrique Ona Selfa, CEOs, chefs and entrepreneurs to entertainment artistes such as Taiwan's singer/dance teacher Niu Nai and Asia's heartthrob Uttsada Greg Panichkul, actors and doctors in her previous capacity as a writer for the above mentioned lifestyle, fashion and beauty magazines.

Her most recent stint was a writer with Indulgence magazine, a high-life, luxury women's magazine, where she focused on feature articles on beauty and news snippets on lifestyle.

There, she's come to realise that her interests lie in, dare she say, more grounded topics, especially in beauty and health features, and therefore has since joined The Singapore Women's Weekly magazine (the Singapore edition of The Australia Women's Weekly) as the beauty writer since late 2007.

Simone's affinity for creative wordplay aside, she enjoys travelling, regular foot reflexology, music, yoga, making lists, reading, photography and good food.

At the moment, she's stopped contributing to Suite101 and will be back if and when she turns to freelance-writing again.
