Shaun Martin has been teaching history at the secondary level for five years. He primarily specializes in United States history but also has experience in teaching world history. Currently, he teaches at an inner-city middle school in Baltimore, MD. As a mentor for several at-risk children, Martin operates a skateboard club to encourage goal setting and personal growth. He is a member of the American Historical Association and the Organization of American Historians. Martin also writes curriculum and instructional support materials for the Baltimore Curriculum Project, a non-profit organization that operates numerous charter schools in Baltimore city. In his spare time, he enjoys snowboarding and fly fishing.
Martin earned his BA in history from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 2003. He began is MA in history shortly after and will complete the degree in 2009. He also completed a teacher training program at Johns Hopkins University in 2007 and will be entering a Ph.D program at the University of Maryland in the fall of 2009.
