Suite101.com Contributing Writer
Shannon Leigh O'Neil, Carissa Sachs

Shannon Leigh O'Neil is a freelance writer and researcher, with degrees in art history from the City College of New York. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and was a recipient of the prestigious Bailey Diffie Award. As an undergraduate, she minored in classical languages, with a specialization in Latin. She also studied French at New York University and London Metropolitan University. Professionally, she has worked as a digital archivist and as the managing director of a graphic design firm.

With a particular interest in the French Symbolists and Art Nouveau, O'Neil has significant experience in the antiquarian book and print trade. She is an expert on reference sources in art history, literature, and European history. In addition to writing articles related to art history, criticism, and French literature, she is working on a full-length biography of Renée Vivien, a British poet who wrote exclusively in French.

O'Neil lives in an historic Brooklyn neighborhood, where she enjoys parks and outdoor recreation. She is a supporting member of the Ocean Conservancy, as well as other environment and nature organizations. She is also a fan of competitive swimming and college football.

She is excited about the challenges of writing for an online magazine and welcomes any feedback or suggestions for articles.
