Sarah Spiker

Career Counselor / Tutor / Active Forensics Competitor / Campaign Member

Spiker is a head-strong collegiate student, studying Political Campaign Management and Public Administration at Western Kentucky University.

In 2009, she won the Abdul H. Rifai Award for Best Undergraduate Research Paper at the Kentucky Political Science Association for her work with ecological sanitation and human rights. Her previous papers have also been presented at the WKU Student Research Council.

In Summer 2009, she completed a 10-week internship with the Department of Homeland Security at Oak Ridge National Laboratory under the guidance of Tracy Warren, working on environmental public opinion change and strategies for green development.

In the 2008 campaign season, she served as volunteer coordinator and web designer on Brian "Slim" Nash's Reelection to Bowling Green City Commissioner as a member of his campaign management team.

As a peer career counselor, Ms. Spiker advises current students and alumni on resume design and content, internship selection, and preparation for job fairs.

During the competitive season, Ms. Spiker competes in Lincoln-Douglas Debate (national semifinalist), Informative Speaking, and Extemporaneous Speaking (two-time state finalist) on the National Forensics League and American Forensics Association circuits. She formerly competed in Parliamentary Debate for the National Parliamentary Debate Association and the National Parliamentary Tournament of Excellence.

Ms. Spiker publishes monthly Public Forum Debate topic analysis essays through Victory Briefs Publishing, advising thousands of high school students on political issues. Public Forum Debate topics rotate on a monthly basis and include a plethora of social, political, and economic issues.
