In 2004, I graduated from Algonquin College in Ottawa from the Journalism-Print program. During the course I had the opportunity to write for the college newspaper, where I covered the Faculty Union beat, as well as general news stories. When it came time to choose our work placements, my only choice was to write for Canadian Geographic. It had been my dream for many years. Unfortunately at that time, the magazine already had a student working for them, but the online version was in need of someone. I accepted the position and turned my dream into reality. When my six-week placement came to an end, I was asked to stay on and continued there for a year and a half. I covered stories on wildlife, religion and history, as well as working as a researcher and fact checker. My work can be viewed in the 2004 Archival section at www.canadiangeographic.ca. I am currently completing a course from the Institute of Children's Literature and hope to publish a children's book one day. In addition to my writing background, I am a certified chef and have a passion for photography. |
