Hi, I'm Sandra Smith, and I live in Yuma, Arizona, with my husband and two cats. Yuma is located in the southeast corner of Arizona, one mile from the California state line, and about eight miles north of the Mexican border. This part of Arizona and Mexico is in the Sonora Desert, which is low desert. It's the only place where saguaro cactus grows. I'm in my 50's now, and I've worked in various occupations during the past half-century. Right now I'm a free-lance writer and my articles have been published in several national magazines. During 1998, I wrote a monthly column on birthstones. I'm doing a column now on interesting facts about a variety of topics. I've also had several short stories published. I'm also working on a novel. Beginning in late 1980s, my husband and I traveled for several years in an RV. During the time we were traveling, I took up several crafts, including doing bead work. I later started making jewelry from gemstones. I sold my bead work and jewelry at craft sales after we settled in Yuma. As my fascination with gemstones grew, I began incorporating some of my research in my writing. I spend a good part of my time now on the Internet. I tell people it's all research, but in reality, it's mostly for fun! Wherever I go, I always find some facinating thing to learn about. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in natural health. I can't make a list of things I'm interested in, because I'm curious about everything! Sandra |
