I’ve been eatin’ and enjoyin’ great food for all my life. As far back as I can remember my family has always said in regard to cookin’, “The easier the dish, the better the taste.” This has been my motto when it comes to fixin’ food, which my seven cookbooks from the “Down Home” series can attest. That’s why any recipe you get from me is not only delicious, but can easily be prepared by just one person in a simple kitchen.
Food around my neighborhood ain’t just for eatin’, but rather a way of life. We all cook when we’re happy, sad, or just plain old hungry. We also always use our time honored and well tested recipes to say, “Hello,” by takin’ them to church socials, school events, club meetin’s, work parties, weddin’s, baby showers, anniversaries, funerals, and basically anywhere we all get together. Because of this we make sure our dishes are tasty and good to the last spoonful.
As an entertainer, I’ve had the privilege of bringin’ my down home stylin’s to theatres, showrooms, televisions, and radios in the United States, Canada, UK, and Australia. My books have been featured in bookstores all over the world. I’ve been featured in such newspapers as The LA Times, The New York Times, The Age, The Guardian, The Review Journal, and The Toronto Sun to name a few.
When I’m not cookin’ or eatin’, I enjoy writin’, travelin’, singin’, playin’ Bingo, layin’ around with my three dogs, readin’ and answerin’ emails, and spendin’ time with my husband Dew.
