Rosalind Brenner
Suite101.com Contributing Writer
I am at the begining of my career as a writer. although i always loved the feel of a smooth flowing pen and the touch of fine quality paper, I was in my thirties before I started dabbling in the art. Through a period of turmoil and travel around Australia with my young family and husband in a caravan I filled many diaries, that I still need to edit and publish.
During this period I undertook my first degree which was Metaphysical Science. This led me to work n the world of Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation, where as a Drug and Alcohol Counsellor I assisted hundreds of people through their addiction processes.
My interst in spiritual and personal development was inspired through the work I was doing and I wrote a few unpublished papers, which I presented at forums around Sydney, such as the Academy of the Word.
In a voluntary capapcity, I have been part af a long term project to instigate an International Year of Community and have taken part in many social justice committees where I get to act on my passion of justice for humanity.
I have been living in Portsmouth in the south of Engalnd, far away from my three grown up children .and grandchild in Australia, for two years, experiencing a different lifestyle.
As an artist I have played a part in Brighter Than the Moon, a play written by Brian Abbott for the African Women's Forum in Portsmouth, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the Trans -Atlantic slave trade. I have extended my interest in the African culture by joining the Africapella choir and singing in various performances in and around Portsmouth. I have also been part of the creation and acting in a short film as part of DVMission 2008.
I am halfway through a Comprehensive Writing Course that has inspired a collection of short non-fiction stories out of me. One of these has been published in an English magazine. Recently I was interviewed on the local community radio and read one of my short stories on air.
I am looking forward to now being able to inspire people through my writing on Suite 101
