Roger Saunders is a 9th generation American. On his father’s side, his 6th Great Grandfather came to Fairfax Co. VA in the Early 18th Century from Scotland. On his mother’s side, his earliest American grandparents were 11 generations back and came from England to Taunton, MA in the early 1630’s. He has at least 10 Grandparents that participated in the Revolutionary War but he says that when you go back 8 generations everyone has 256 grandparents so a few are bound to show up on the muster roles somewhere.

His earliest memories are listening to his great grandfather tell him about his early days in Texas and his grandfathers stories about how he and his brothers really had Cherokee blood running through their veins. Grandma would wink at him and tell him that Grandpa told that story so often he was beginning to believe it himself. Imagine his surprise when genealogical research proved his Grandpa wasn’t kidding. It was these early experiences that gave him his great love of America as well as its illustrious history.

Roger is an education consultant for a Fortune 500 Company during the day and an avid student of American History, especially the War of the Revolution, in the evening now that his kids have gone on to college. His oldest just graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 2007 and is serving his country. He loves to write and his wife says it’s about time he started doing something with all that reading he has done in his lifetime. (She is very happy that now she isn’t the only one who has to hear him talk about all those dead people any longer!)
