Hummingbird feeders, like hummingbirds themselves, come in all shapes, sizes and colors. Commercial hummingbird food is widely available, too, but it is easier and cheaper to make your own.

Latin Am/Caribbean Travel Feature Writer

I was born in Kansas City, and in addition to living in Missouri, have lived in California, Oregon and Arizona. I have always loved the outdoors and have hiked, backpacked and fished across the United States and Canada.

I also love to travel and have done so extensively, especially to pursue scuba diving, birding, cultural education and photography. These trips have taken me throughout Latin America, the Caribbean, Egypt, Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

My educational background includes a degree in Chemistry, a graduate degree in Management and Finance and post-graduate studies in science and engineering, Spanish and writing. My working career focused on computer science, system design and training, technology sales and management, management consulting and real estate and property management. Now retired in the southwest mountains near Tucson, I enjoy reading and writing, gardening, tennis, birding and travel, especially to Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America.

My business writing included technical proposals, training manuals and programs, as well as a monthly essay on real estate issues. My current writing includes fiction, poetry, birding, travel and humor. In addition to my articles in Suite101, I write a monthly birding column for a community newspaper and am working on a book about travel in Mexico.
