My full name is Robert Allen Lawson. I live in Mankato, MN U.S.A. near the Minnesota State University campus. I am a student of Mass Communications emphasizing in Journalism, and minoring in technical communication. I first attended college as a junior in high school under a program in Minnesota called PSEO (Post Secondary Enrollment Option). I attended Lake Superior College in Duluth, MN for a year, studying Liberal Arts and Broadcasting for college and high school credit. I joined the LSC student senate, and became an executive member, as Public Relations Liaison. I wrote press releases, to be printed and published in the LSC student newspaper. I worked in radio there too.
I transferred to MSU to major in Mass Communications, and I began writing for the bi-weekly university newspaper, the "MSU Reporter".
In 2005 I interned at a local recording studio in Mankato called, "Two Fish Studios". The same couple who own the studio run an arts/culture magazine called "The Static" -- a great publication that comes out once a month. It features music reviews, film reviews, articles about local history, artist profiles, and many other local stories.
I have worked in the manufacturing industry, mostly in machine operation. I operated smokehouses, ran machines for bottling of beverages, operated a machine for the production of walk-in refrigerators, and even operated a press at a printing press owned by Glenn Taylor.
This is my first online writing gig but I am excited to put my writing to good use, delivering messages to those who seek out the knowledge.
My ultimate inspirations are Edward R. Murrow, Hunter S. Thompson, Ken Kesey, Orson Welles, Dan Rather, and any N.Y. Times writers.
