Ripa Ajmera is a freelance writer whose work has included projects for ABCNews.com, eHow.com, LIVESTRONG.com, Trails.com, Travels.com, General Nutrition Center (GNC), the Alliance for College-Ready Public Schools, the Children’s Defense Fund and more. She majored in marketing at New York University (NYU) Leonard N. Stern School of Business, and graduated in May 2008 with Honors. At NYU, she was a member of the inaugural Catherine B. Reynolds Scholarship Program for undergraduate and graduate students. She founded NYU’s chapter of Youth Venture on campus and served as Curriculum Chair on the Stern Academic Advisory Board, where she recommended courses on entrepreneurship. She has spoken about social entrepreneurship at conferences for Columbia University Women’s Business Society, StartingBloc Institute for Social Innovation and as a student speaker for NYU Stern’s Annual Haskins Awards dinner honoring Jeffrey Immelt (CEO of General Electric). Ripa is also a Sivananda-certified yoga instructor, who practices Vipassana meditation daily and is in the process of creating a yoga and interfaith worship center in India. Although she has particular experience covering the nonprofit and business sectors, health and wellness, and the arts, Ripa is a well-rounded writer with many interests. Some of her favorite assignments have allowed her to research and cover topics as diverse as fuel economy, how to start a business in Pakistan, facts on rock crystals, the history of jazz dance and treatment centers for addictions.
