Richard Button
Suite101.com Contributing Writer
My name is Richard Button and I'm a soccer writer based in England – the home of the world game of football.
The England national squad my have promised much, but delivered little since their famous World Cup victory of 1966, but at club level things could not be better with with English Premiership's top sides continuing to take Europe by storm.
But football is not just about the top sides and their multi-millionaire stars. It is the soul of the nation and reflects the hopes and aspiration of players, club officials and fans from the professional game right down to the semi-professional and grassroots levels.
That is reflected in my writing career in the game. I have covered the likes of former European champions Nottingham Forest, watched the game in the lower levels of the Football League and developed a passion for semi-pro football in non-league.
I have written for the websites FootballNews and From the Terrace, both now sadly defunct. I have covered games for various local newspapers and latterly written for NonLeague Paper and NonLeague Today.
As well as my writing experience I have been press officer at two semi-professional clubs and produced post match summing up for local radio stations.
