Rachel Howard-Collins is a freelance journalist with more than five years of staff reporting experience for regional and national publications. Originally, she was a general-interest and police-beat reporter, but she now focuses on health and family issues.
She graduated from the University of Arkansas - Fayetteville with a bachelor of arts in journalism and an emphasis in European Studies. She also has healthcare experience, having spent two years working for a major medical facility in patient care roles and administration. Her healthcare experience offers good background for her writing about health issues.
Rachel has been published in the New York Times, The Morning News of Northwest Arkansas, Wal-Mart Today (Wal-Mart's corporate magazine) and other publications.
She also is a stay-at-home mom and military wife. Her husband serves in the United States Army; they have a toddler son and infant daughter. Rachel is well-acquainted with the challenges and joys of marriage and parenting, and these experiences help her write about topics meaningful to spouses and parents.
