Originally from the sunny Mississippi Gulf Coast, I have lived in France for four years now. It all started with a whirlwind year in Orleans before finishing my Bachelor's degree in History and French at the University of Southern Mississippi. Craving to get back to the cafés, I hopped the pond to finish a Master's degree in English Studies/American Civilization at the Université Stendhal-Grenoble 3 in Grenoble, France. The city hasn't gotten rid of me yet!
The relationship between the two countries fuels my curiosity and I write about France to show others what the Hexagon has to offer. Of course, I can't cover everything--France's array of cultural and culinary wonders number far too much for one human being--but I'm doing my best.
My work has appeared in New Orleans Magazine, Transitions Abroad, South Mississippi Living, and France Today. I am also Foodtrekker.com's culinary correspondant for France.
I have traveled around much of Western Europe, but have recently decided to concentrate on France and its overwhelming offer of cultural diversity. While not on the road, I teach English to French business men and women in the Grenoble area. This job has opened opportunities to meet the city's rugby team, the bus drivers to whom Grenoble entrusts its ski season tourists, nuclear scientists, and company presidents.
Of course I don't rely on my work to mingle with the locals. I also belong to the municipal photography club and astronomy club.
