Nicole Barlow began her geology career with the British Columbia Geological Survey, where she performed lab and field work, research, technical writing and editing. After a brief stint at the BC Offshore Oil and Gas Division, she received her B.Sc. in Earth Sciences and Geography from the University of Victoria.

Shortly thereafter, Nicole founded Purple Rock Editing, her own geological editing company. Based in Victoria, BC, Purple Rock Editing performs geological editing and document management.

After two years, Purple Rock Editing currently employs a team of four subcontractors. Nicole and her team are currently working with the BC Geological Survey on a project to index and archive over 100,000 geological maps and documents. In addition, Nicole is actively pursuing other editing endeavours.

In her spare time, Nicole enjoys creating new baking experiments and devouring well-written fiction.
