Pitchfork has an interview with Manu Chao. He talks about his album due in September, La Radiolina, his US tour, and his view of US and world politics.
Michael Buell Jr. is a jack of all trades living in Madrid, Spain. How he ended up here is a long and sordid tale. Originally from Baltimore, he spent his adolescence in Ithaca, NY. In college, he started studying Computer Science, but somehow got wrangled into being first a writer and then editor for the school paper. Graduating from Binghamton University in 2005 with degrees in Computer Science and English, he got a software job in Binghamton which quickly drove him insane. He fled the post-industrial wasteland at the first opportunity and has now been living in Spain for over a year with no regrets. His day job is teaching English and walking/caring for dogs. In his spare time, he writes for suite101 on a variety of subjects, plays with synthesizer software, and writes for the independent travel blog, Vagablogging, all while trying to listen to as much music as possible. On suite101, he heads the Instrumental Music section. If you create music that falls into this catch-all category, feel free to contact him. |
